Xebec is a collapsible workstation that adds 2 screens to any (literally any) laptop. And yes, that means it’s MacBook compatible. The aim of Xebec seems to be to set power users up with a tri-screen rig, and from what we can see their team delivers on this vision, with precision.
Xebec has no magnets or permanent installations, and siphons power from your laptop to keep you free from the power outlet. Each screen slides out from the back and can be slid back into place if you only want to use a single extra display. The screens are all synced up so you can easily drag and drop elements from one display to the other. You can finally say goodbye to minimizing and using full-screen apps!
The case is ultra thin and doesn’t add much bulk to your current setup at all. I think it goes without saying that there are countless applications for 2 additional screens, particularly gaming and day trading come to mind. It’s worth nothing that Xebec only comes with HDMI and Micro-USB (although the company plans to add USB-C support later on down the road).
The company claims the additional screens can boost your productivity by as much as 44%. It’s an unverified claim, but it’s a safe bet that the additional screen real estate will help you work faster — there is no denying that. Xebec hardware can be installed and uninstalled from your computer in just seconds, making this rig the perfect addition for any working nomad on the go as well.
Xebec is getting it’s start on the Kickstarter platform where the company behind it says will be shipping in the first quarter of next year (March 2020). As always, be sure to do your due diligence before investing in a Kickstarter as there are risks of delays and non-shipments.
